Well, with Sportsfan finally catching up to the current UC: SM issues right now, and with the rest of us hopefully current as well, it's time to talk Ultimate Comics: Spider-Man!!!!!

Hey, sports, have you downloaded #6 yet? It's pretty good. I think the best one so far was the first one, if for nothing else the very first panel with Peter's monologue (finishing in "Would you like fries with that?") lol, that was great. I hope we get to see a lot more of Peter at his job. Another thing that really got me in the first issue was seeing him and Gwen kiss. It was kind of a WTF? type thing, but i've gotten used to it. Mysterio is awesome, I really can't wait to see him develop even more as a villain throughout the series. Only complaint so far about the writing is how quickly they killed Kingpin off, that was very disappointing.

No, I have not...I saw it just came out like a week ago...I'm thinking about getting a subscription soon (thinking ) and i know what you mean about Gwen, I was like wow...but I really like them together, I'm a big fan of Gwen in this series. And my guess about them killing off Kingpin was because of the start of the "new series" and I am thinking they wanted a shocker at the beginning to keep fans coming or something...but Kingpin was so good in USM i really wish they didn't kill him. who will take his place though? I mean, Is Mysterio going to stay the crime lord for now?

Yes, Bendis has said that Mysterio will be the overreaching villain for UC:SM. You should read #6, the identity of the Shroud is revealed, and it's the final issue for the first arc. the next arc is drawn by a different artist, but it's only 2 issues, and apparently it will feature The Ultimate Watcher and the Ultimate Sentry. LaFuente will be back after that. What do you think of the art?

well, at first, I think it looks good on certain characters, and horrible on others...I think Peter is drawn pretty funny looking, a few of the characters look Chinese, but a few, like Gwen, Aunt May, and Johnny look very good drawn in his art.
second, I have to say I like the smooth look for it. It's like a cartoon with shadows. It's simple I guess you could say, and simple is good, that's how I draw.

I personally- love the art. It IS smooth, and its fresh, and its just.... good. I say, MJ is the best looking. I like her with the short hair and glasses. And then, Gwen, she looks great, its just, her nose is too pointy. >.>

I didn't even notice her nose, I do really like the smooth look though, but really, am I the only one who thinks Peter's bangs are too long, from the side, he looks like his spider-clone woman (in a way)

sportsfan, EVERYONE(even those who like the art) think Peter has girls hair. Supposedly, Bendis has said it will be fixed soon. My only complaint is on some far away shots that he doesn't draw faces, just outlines, and that is annoying. still wanting to see what the artist for the next two issues draws like.

I enjoyed it, definitely a great way to start the series. I would have liked a tad more closure to the Mysterio part of it, but still it was very funny and entertaining, and i can't wait to see where Bendis is going.

It was good, but nothing special. I do like Ultimate Mysterio a lot - existentialism is awesome.
As for new villains I'd like to see.... Jackal (whatever happened to Miles Warren, anyway?), Carrion (eventually), Dr. Noah Body (I believe Bendis mentioned that he wanted to use a villain from the '60s series), Spencer/Alistaire Smythe (so far, we've done Spider-Slayers twice, and neither included the Smythes in any way, shape, or form - that's just wrong), Vulture (Adrian Toomes, not Blackie Drago), Black Tarantula (he IS awesome....), and the Rose (I'm still upset about Kingpin) come to mind.
