Episode 1: Flowers Blossom Beautifully In Maroon
It's quiet, prehaps to quiet. I let the ocean surrounding the Oil Rig fill my ears. This...exoskeletion suit will expose itself and myself under loud noises so i'm thankful the ocean is quiet today. I'm invisble, something i hate being. I like that second when they see me coming, the fear is so thick, you could cut it. I follow one of Bishop's thugs until I have him alone.
"Brian St.Clare. You've been a bad man" He turns around in fear, the same fear I love to see. Back in World War III I went under the name 'The Fear' silly name but I lived up to it. I turn my invisibility off and let him see me.
"Star?"
"The one and only" He throws the first punch at me, I jerk back and push it out of the way, I strike at him with a knee to the chest, i grab the back of his shirt and throw him back. He thinks he can punch me while stumbling back...He's wrong. I throw his fist out of my way as he hits the wall. I grab his collar and pull him forward and push him back which in his case, hurt like hell.
"Where can I find him? Where's Bishop?" He's out of breath and scared out of his mind, he knows people who have came across me never usually live to talk about me again. He stutters and stumbles over his words. I pull him forward so he's looking deep in my eyes, I let him know i'm not the only one who can hurt him. There it was...he was speechless from the fear of what he saw. I feel his urine hit my boots which really pissed me off.
"What are you?" I push him back against the cement wall and watch his face feel the pain.
"Where's Bishop?"
"He's half way across the world"
"WHERE!" I gripped his collar tighter so it would cut off circulation to his breathing.
"Tokyo" He gargled the words out. I smile, releasing him from my grip. He wants to run to his copter and I plan on letting him do it, the part about placing a bomb under his seat...we'll i'll keep that between me and god. He stares at me questioning what would I do and what I am.
"Boo" He jumps back, startled when he starts running off. I laugh, I know what he's going to do. He'll get to his copter then he'll call Bishop and warn him. I can't risk that. I remove the stun knife from my belt, I guess Peria was right, I would find it useful. I turn around, bring my right wrist to my left shoulder and with one hard throw.....it sticks him, killing him instantly.
"Raider, It's Jon...Pick me up"
"Gottcha! i'm on my way!" I turn my communicator off, I walk up to
edge of the Oil Rig and look down, the ocean below me is dark as midnight, I can't see a single thing. I smile as I take a seat and pull a cigarette from my pants pocket. How is it that I've been invisible, hung upside down from a ceiling, fought over 20 men in this place and this cigarette isn't even bent? I place it on my lips and gently push down on it, I search for my lighter when Raider's helicopter blows it out of my mouth, I peek over the edge and watch as it slowly falls to the ocean stop.
"Hop on!" Raider waved toward me, his large bushy beard blew in the hard wind. I sigh, almost on the edge of killing him. I stand up and remain on the edge, I smile and wave.
"JONATHAN STAR! DON'T YOU DO IT!" One thing Raider should know about me...I do as I please. I lean forward and let the wind stop holding me back and simply let gravity take me down toward the ocean, I'll admit..the feeling was amazing, beautiful some might say. There was no past or future as you fell towards your death. I saw the helicopter swan dive down towards the ocean, it's tail whipped to it's right and the whole copter tilted to it's right side where the opening faced me, I dived into the helicopter, grabbed the holes in the flooring and the copter quickly straighted itself out.
"YOU CRAZY SON OF A..."
"Blood pressure..." Raider took a deep breath while I took a seat
"You could of killed us both" He calmly said, I scuffed
"I trust you Raider, I knew you wouldn't let me die"
"Try that again and I might take a second to save your ass" I chuckle once or twice, didn't really keep track.
"But you would save me"
The Darkest Star
"You got an incoming call, Jon" Raider randomly announced, I felt the urge to sigh, it was best if I do it now cause I already knew what was coming. I switched my communicator on and mid-sentence General Moron.. it's actually pronounced moo then ron but I preferred moron.
"YOU CRAZY BASTARD, WHY ISN'T BISHOP KILLED YET?"
"Bishop knew we were coming, he left hours before I arrived"
"WHERE IS HE OFF TO?"
"Tokyo"
"WELL HURRY YOUR ASS UP!" I switch my communicator off and takes a deep breath, I climb over to the front passenger seat of the helicopter.
"Be careful, last time you did that we almost fell out of the sky"
"That was two years ago, let the past go. I wanted to ask you something"
"What's that?"
"We haven't had a chance to sit down and talk, we're pretty much strangers to each other"
"I read your profile, I know a lot about you"
"How old am i?"
"33...trick question. Your 93" He laughs, I smile and nod, not really liking that.
"Where was I born?"
"Tucson, Arizona, 3 months before World War III"
"What's my brother's name?" He looked at me, clueless. "This whole mission, the whole 'I-kill-Bishop' thing, what's your thought about it?"
"I don't know, it's like every other mission. Your going to kill Bishop then after that i'm sure they'll send us somewhere to kill another person. It's our job"
"I'm not going to"
"not going to what?"
"The military is under the assumption that i'm going to kill Bishop....I'm not" Raider looked at me, I smiled which brought the question back up.
"Jonathan, what's your brother's name?" He looked at me still, no longer paying attention to the helicopter.
"I think you know"
-3 Years Earlier-
I wasn't always the best soldier Tri-Corp has ever seen. I once was a father and proud husband but all that changed once I became a soldier.
"His vital signs are good, he's alive" I heard the voices, voices I never heard in my life. I tried opening my eyes but I couldn't.
"Jonathan Star, are you awake?" My name...was that my name? I used all the muscle i could and opened my eyes, first thing I was the white ceiling then his face came into picture. Who was this man?
"Jonathan Star, are you feeling alright?"
"Tip top" I sat up, which sent my world spinning but I ignored it,
no reason to get the nurse all panicky. The General held his hand out, I shook it.
"I'm General Moron" He looked over at the nurse who quickly walked off.
"I'm part of a small goverment project known a 'Tri-Corps' Ever heard of us?" He released my hand, a hand shake that went on two seconds to long.
"To be honest with you, i'm having a hard time remembering how I got here"
"The nurse said your memories will take awhile to return, Son...you agreed to be apart of Project Tri-Corp, 60 years ago" I stared at him like he was crazy, it was a dull, blank stare that lasted about 60 seconds.
"I'm sorry, it sounded as if you said 60 years? unless time has slowed down, that's impossible"
"No it's not, Tri-Corp has a program that places it's subject in a deep frozen state called Crystallization, it's as if your sleeping. 60 years ago, you agreed to be put to sleep"
"Why? I would of never done something so stupid"
"I think there's something you need to witness" The general walked off, one soldier placed a small device on my lap, I didn't know what part bothered me. the part where the soldier didn't mind getting inches from my privates or the part where i've been frozen. The video began to play, it was me...off the bat, i'll have to admit. I'm not bad looking at all.
" If your watching this...then i'm dead" I quickly looked at the soldier, me in the video begins to laugh in the video.
"Sorry, i've always wanted to say that. Truth is, if your watching this then...your awake. Which feels weird, talking to myself in the future. Well, let's clear some things first. My name is Jonathan Star, i'm 33 and i've accepted to be apart of Tri-Corp. It's the year 2015 and there seems like there's no end to World War III. But that's not the worst part..." He still, He seems to be in pain, from the tears in his eyes. He looks back at the camera, like he's looking at me.
"I'll just let you remember, I can't....i just can't" He wipes the tears and smiles.
"Um I'm a soldier and a damn good one. If your confused on anything then don't worry, you can trust these people. If you ever have a question then Flowers Blossom Beautifully In Maroon. Goodbye future Jonathan, hope everything works out" The video ends, I look up, trying to make sense of it all. Moments pass and i'm sitting on the shower floor, the water feels beautiful, I close my eyes as my memory slowly fade in.
"Do I have any personal belongings or anything?" The general was on the other side of the shower curtains.
"Yes, we'll have them to you when you return" I hang my head as the water hits me.
"So do you remember anything about Julia or Eric?" That's when it hits me, all the pain finally spilled over and I begin to cry, uncontrollably. I remember walking into my home, Julia was on the top of the stairs, smiling down at me, I smiled up at her when three shots ring out, all hit her. She drops and slides down the steps. I rush to her and watch as her life leave her body, Eric runs out of his room.
"ERIC GET IN THE ROOM!" I yell but it was to late, one shot rings out and hits Eric in the chest. I let the memory bring me down, i let it destroy me and end my life.
