They have a good team, but the direction still sucks. I love how he says that "you can't really go back and redo what was done so well in the comics," even though that's exactly what Spectacular did with flying colors.
As for me? I'm watching this on YouTube. I refuse to give it support unless it actually beats the odds and comes out good.

The news about Paul Dini working on the new show has got me excited. He wrote some amazing stuff for the DCAU, so I'll give this show a chance. I mean, just look at some of Dini's previous episodes in superhero animation (just listing some of the ones I remember):
B:TAS - Heart of Ice, Mad as a Hatter, The Man Who Killed Batman, Harlequinade, Harley's Holiday, Almost Got 'Im, Harley and Ivy, Joker's Favor, House and Garden, The Laughing Fish, Catwalk TNBA - Over the Edge, Mad Love, Holiday Knights, Joker's Millions, story for Growing Pains Superman:TAS - Mxyzpixilated, World's Finest parts 1-3, story for Legacy parts 1 and 2 JL - Comfort and Joy
Plus Mask of the Phantasm, Return of the Joker and Sub-Zero (I think).
It certainly is a lot of great stuff, and he's written excellent episodes for other superhero cartoons as well: look at Batman: The Brave and the Bold (Legends of the Dark Mite). And he wrote the story for the Arkham Asylum videogame.
I think it's safe to say that the new Ultimate Spider-man cartoon is in good hands.

The question is if "good hands" can overcome a ridiculously bad pitch. I'm still betting against it....

My hatred for it has subsided, Learn how to hold a grudge. Most of my loathing has been replaced by skepticism, cos why would a I want a bad show? I still cry out in fury at marvel/disney/sony for canning TSSM, but if the new show is decent then I'll watch it, cos if I have hate them even more then I do now...yeah. Lets not go there! PS: I can SOOO hold a grudge...SGK....nuff' said!!!

I agree with wanting to see Moon Knight and Mysterio. So we agree on that Mr. Kelly. I'm actually excited for this show. Let's release some trailers already.

The interview says something along the lines of all of Spider-Man's rouge gallery being interesting and not thinking of any that are underapreciated...um it's really not that hard to come up with at least a few rouges that are a bit obscure.
I mean there's that guy that can create the illusion of having the power of every super hero (but really it's just hyponois-Peter calls him out for being a poor man's Mysterio-anyone know who I'm talking about or remember his name), a bunch of characters connected to the Clone Saga (although that's probably why), and a bunch of one shot characters. Also joke characters never get any love (Deadpool doesn't count).
I can understand having to have the big names there. The Sinster Six members, plus the Goblins (well the big named goblins) are pretty much a given and expected, but give the obscure a chance. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but one of the things that made TSSM awesome was that litereally every character was pre-existing. That's how many characters they have to draw from.
Ok, rant done. I don't mean to condem the show before it aires, that was just something that bugged me.

I agree about the obscure villains and would like to see some joke villains as well. Ringer anyone?

There is one in Amazing Spider-Man #20something, and then a new in I think it's called "One Small Break" or something like that. My friend loaned it to me, but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. JMS, right? Anyway, quick list of great obscure villains: Shriek Puma Vermin Lightmaster Tarantula The Spot Stegron CARRION!!!!!! Black Tarantula Ringer Boomerang Iguana Will O' the Wisp Jonas Harrow Answer Black Fox Big Wheel Cardiac Ringmaster Cobra and Mr. Hyde Owl Swarm
